Usually we check out roads we've never been on or visit cities next to us to see what's going on that particle day. It's kinda fun. I don't want to be cheesy but it's like we are modern day pioneers. lol
I remember packing up my Chevy Pickup and loading up the shell (yes, remember camper shells?) and heading west. Between semesters I drove "home" and depending on the weather, I took the "southern route" when it was cold and the "northern route" when it was warm. What a treat I thought to discover the beauty of the lakes and expanses of the Midwest, the Southwest and its deserts and all the people along the way.
Personally, I always get my oil checked if it's 6+ hours away. Regardless of how far, I also get my tires checked and fully gas up the vehicle. I also thoroughly clean it, even if it's just a short trip. I like to have plenty of space for anything I might bring home and don't want a big mess in the car.
