Lately I have been shopping online, not a lot, but I've bought a couple of things already. I buy only mostly because I like good deals! So far I've been able to take adventage of some :D I've had a good experience shopping online, but I've been using a web site for people to buy and sell things in my country.

However, I'm in dire need of a natural supplement that can be found only on Ebay, so I might actually try buying from there for the first time! The only thing I don't like about this is the waiting, but oh well... I really need this and they don't even sell it in my own country :( I'm not very familiar with Ebay, but I'll give it a try since I have no choice.

Have any of you ordered something from Ebay? How did it go? What are your thought on online shopping in general?

I have bought and sold items off of Ebay since they formed as a company. I have to say that my overall experience has been great. Shopping only through major websites has been excellent for online only bargains. I would suggest to stick to main (known) websites.

Online shopping is good though I don't shop online always just once in a while. And what I shop are not that much just few things that are not too expensive.
I have an account with eBay but have never shopped from them. eBay is a good place to shop and you can get things at good prices. Especially the bided items. If you're are the highest bidder, you get the item but you must ensure you have money in your account.

I have ordered business cards for my detail shop and Gearhead Central online. I was able to get a better card for a lower price.

I ordered a hat for my brother. He was looking for one of his favorite hockey team but no one local had any. He knew he could order it but didn't want to. He told me to keep an eye out for him. I looked in one store that day then went home and ordered it for him as a graduation gift.

I needed new shocks for my at I had. The front shocks went on me. They were not cheap for the stock ones and the aftermarket ones cost more then a bit as well. I went on ebay and found a used set off a large at. I ordered them and it worked out well.

The add ons that I bought for this site last week (competitions and showcase) were bought online. That is the only way to get them.

I have done online shopping and there are many reputable sites other than e-bay too. I have purchased books, DVDs and electronic accessories. I was and am still satisfied with all these purchases.

However, the one thing that I cannot foresee myself doing is purchasing shoes and clothes online. May be it is just a momentary thing but then I would love to buy my apparels from a brick and mortar retail outlet any day.

I have shopped at various online stores already, and I have also tried shopping at Ebay several times. All of my transactions turned out ok, although 3 items were stolen from our local post office. The items arrived in less than a week if the shipping was paid, while free shipping takes 2 weeks to a month to arrive. The longest that I have to wait for an item to arrive was 2 months.

Oh my... I feel for you! Being robbed really sucks, this kind of things happen here as well! I was robbed once by the cusoms officers... yup, no one says or does a thing about it. I had to deal with it the best I could, there are far worse things in life... but it really makes your blood boil :inpain: When you shopped at Ebay... did you order things from the US?

I shop and sell on eBay often. I like it. You can get some great deals. Just watch out because some people over inflate the shipping charges. If you know exactly what you want eBay will be great. If it's a store they are usually very nice because they want a good rating.
I also shop amazon all the time.

Not yet, I go to Ebay.com but I have mostly ordered from Chinese sellers and once from a UK seller. I haven't ordered yet from a US seller yet but I will soon since I need this charger from this US seller.

Oh cool! I just ordered something from a chinese seller... some stuff for this winter! Crosssing my fingers!!!! I had never ordered anything from China before... we'll see how it goes :) I personally prefer to order from US sellers, because the packages get here earlier :)

Yeah, domestic purchases usually arrive at your doorstep within a few days after purchasing. The international ones take 2 weeks up to a month to arrive. I hope your purchase will turn out ok. :)

Thanks, I sure hope so! I tried not to order too many things, just to be sure ;) This is the first time I use Ebay to order something from a chinese seller, so I didn't want to risk it :D I'll let you know how it turns out!

You're from the US, right? So the items get delivered straight to your door. Here in the Philippines, you pay $1+ per parcel since you have to claim it from the post office, and if the item is above $50, you pay 12% to 15% of the item's price plus around $20 as "tax". And the money goes to their corrupt pockets.

No offense to anyone, but I have rarely ever had a good experience when ordering from a Chinese seller. In almost every instance, they only shipped me a partial shipment of my order, the items themselves were knock offs and not the original thing, and they disappeared without giving me a refund. Once they get their money and skip town, all eBay is going to do is close their account, but they can just as easily open another account on there and do it all over again.

I have had decent experience when ordering from eBay, but the stuff I've ordered has mainly been clothing. The sellers usually put some thank you note, I guess trying to convince you to write a good review of them, which I will do from time to time. I haven't really gotten any bad merchandise per se, but some of the stuff was clearly used when it was marked as new with tags.

I love online shopping. I can sometimes find the best deals online. My favorite site for coupons is retailmenot.com. Shipping can be way too much so I try to always use a coupon.

Ebay has been good to me so far. I usually don't buy things anymore than $30 so in case something doesn't go right then I won't be too mad about it. I usually look for sellers with a lot of ratings and majority positive. True people pay for ratings sometimes but I take that chance for the cheap price. A few months ago I ordered two swimsuits off eBay from either Hong Kong or China both were under $20, fit great and exactly like the picture. So I guess I'm a satisfied customer.

Woah... so you have to pay a bit more for each parcel?! Jesus! That sucks! Over here we usually get it delivered straight to our door as you said, but sometimes when the item is really expensive we must pick it at the office, pay a fee and also cover the ''tax'' fee customs guys see fit. That's why I never order big things.... small packages are fine, because you never have to pay extra. A lot corruption over there :(

Well, when you buy from a chinese seller you know beforehand what you're buying is not original at all. That's ok, I don't care to be honest; as long as the item is in good condition and resembles the one in the picture.

@ Trellum, yeah it really sucks, at least my post office branch is not as corrupt as the other branches, (they give a receipt) because they make you pay "tax" when they see fit, like they say $10 up is "taxable". And based from what I read, you just say that you don't have any money and they will ask how much money do you have in your wallet, then they will say that it's "ok" to just pay that amount and it's an "under the table" transaction w/out receipt. They usually accept around $12 up.

Amazon has recently announced that they are raising the minimum spend from $25 to $35 for free shipping. While this kind of sucks, I also seldom order stuff online and pay shipping at all unless it is something more expensive anyhow. I wouldn't buy something for $2 and pay $5 to have it shipped to me.

Woah, that sounds a lot like Mexico, lol. Well, actually in mexico they like that kind of corrupt and under the table transactions, but the post service isn't so bad. I'm sorry for the pinoy people who have to pay after having paid for the value of their things! I mean, when you get the notice you got your items waiting... you should be happy, not worried about the damn tax :( Once I was sent a $600 laptop (as a gift) they charged me a lot tax!!! It was just a gift!!

Yeah, sadly most amazon sellers won't ship to my country :( That's why I'm using Ebay now, still waiting to see how reliable Ebay is for shopping!
