My car has a slightly rough idle and the engine light is on?

    My car has 112k miles and never had a tune up and now it has a slightly rough idle and the engine light is on. Does anyone know what it might be I am afraid its going to need a tune up and if it does I am afraid to know how much its going to cost. Does anyone know how much a tune up costs for a 2005 Ford Taurus?

    I'm not sure about the tune up part, but I kind of had the same problem about a month ago. I took it to Autozone, and they said it was just because the negative part of the battery wasn't on all the way. I fixed it in 5 minutes. I would go get a scan first and see what it's about. Yours may be a lot worse than mine, but you never know.

    The first thing I would do is get it hooked up to a code reader to find out what is throwing the code. Then you can work from there.

    Ya I was going to suggest running the code too, you can get the codes checked for free at most auto parts stores.
    Then once you have the codes, you can start your troubleshooting steps.
