My dad is a Harley man. But I hate them! They scare me. My husband had one but he sold it. My boys like them. I hope they get over it!!

Compared to cars, motorcycles are dangerous. There really isn't much between the road and you. For many years, I wanted to ride a motorcycle, but then I developed a larger sense of mortality. It didn't help that my best friend's dad had been in a few motorcycle accidents; hearing him talk about them scared me. My husband didn't want one for a long, long time, but lately he's started talking about it. I think if he got someone to mentor him, that I'd be okay with it.

I have never drove a motorcycle, but I would love to. I plan on buying a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R sometime in the next year.

Lol, I can't seem to edit the title anymore, so I can't change it now. :D But I don't think I mentioned the term "driving" in a motorcycle yet. ;)

I have driven a motorcycle once. But I fell down really hard, never driven one after that. I still want to get my license, because I really want a Harley.

I am a rider. I got back riding about 13 years ago after a few years when I was young.
Do I regret getting a bike? No. Do I love it? Yes. Are there risks involved? Yes. And you can get
hurt bad. Can you take steps to be as safe as possible? Yes. Should you ride with gear ie helmet, gloves, boots and jacket, jeans etc. Yes.
Are there real bad horror stories out there about riding mishaps. Yes.
Is it worth the risk? That is up to you. The bike is a 1300 Honda VTX btw.

Well said, I think the ones who are regular bike riders are the bike fans who don't mind taking the risk. They really are passionate about the bikes that they own, like a typical car fan.

I never learnt to ride the motor cycle when I had the opportunity to. Now I wouldn't bother to even if I had the chance. Being on one can be an awesome experience but it can also be dangerous too. The rider sometimes feels free and gets carried away into being careless and sometimes motor vehicle drivers don't care to avoid cyclist much.

Yes, I ride and love to ride motorcycles and yes they are dangerous. However, its not the motorcycle that really is the danger just like Flexin and some of the other have said. The real danger when you are on a motorcycle is all of the other drivers around you and the lack of protection if you are in an accident. I started off on a Honda trail 90 and the last bike I bought was a Harley low rider. Once you get yourself in the wind you will never feel the same in a car again. I can honestly say that having a bike that fits you well will make you safer. You need to be able to handle the bike but more importantly you need to take a class if you are going to ride it regularly. The worst thing for me was taking smaller bikes (like a honda vt500ft and a yamaha vstar 650) on the highway and getting stuck next to trucks and not being able to pass them.

I have also been involved in a few motorcycle accidents and I'm still here to talk about it so its not a guaranteed death just getting on one. Its more like a 60% chance of death with a 40% chance of making everyone who sees how much fun your having jealous.
