This one was the door of a Audi A4. You can see the building in the reflection.

Thanks. I loved taking a tired paint job and bringing life back into it. I miss getting to do that everyday.

Here is a Dodge Magnum I buffed. As you can see, the door as been buffed but the fender has yet to be touched. I did this Magnum for a car show. The shop that had it had big rims on it. They sell rims. When it made it to the car show the owner said he never knew the paint had that flake in it. He thought it was just straight black. He was very happy with the results.

Those are nice! I wanted to do a perfect paint job myself but I always find imperfections (like paint runs, dust under clear, etc.), and when i do find one, I tend to mess everything up trying to fix a small problem.

Thanks. Yeah painting is tough. This wasn't painting. This was just buffing to make the existing paint look as good as possible.

Yeah and buffing gives me a headache too. Even with the assistance of several online how-to's, That 'wet-look' shine that I've always wanted is still impossible to achieve. or maybe its the rubbing compound? or my hands?

I have done a few that gave me headaches. One was a Benz SUV, it was in an accident and had a poor paint job. It was tough to get it to look right. I had a S10 that had something odd with the paint. I redid it about 5 times. That one drove me nuts. There was also a Kia SUV that had decals on it. It was black and there was a big difference in the color of the paint where the decals were and the regular paint. That one was a pain. I tried every product I had and in the end I got it good enough to leave my shop. It wasn't perfect but it looked much better.

This I want to throw in because it shows me at work late one night. You can also see the reflection of the buffer in the paint. This the Kia that had the decals on it.

This is a GMC Sonoma I did. It had been repainted from what I remember and came in looking like the left side. The right side I buffed. You can see the reflection of the bottle in the paint.

I know this is quite off topic but still is about reflection. Do you have any tips on some spots that have orange peels? I tried to restore the rear bumper of my galant because I bumped into a fence, what I got after buffing was uneven shine.. When I took a closer look it was due to little orange peels..

You shouldn't have an orange peel look after buffing. If you do have it, all the paint or most of it should be like that. Take a closer look at other areas of the bumper to see if it is the same.

What kind of buffer did you use? Rotary or a orbital? What product did you use?

I was the one who repainted the entire bumper like a year ago so I know the mix. So what I did was, tried to spot-paint the damaged areas to save paint, sanded the entire bumper, clear coated it again, only to find out after buffing that it is uneven. If I have the time I'll take photos of it to better describe it.

I use rotary slow, and I am a big fan of 3M.

The repaint explains the orange peel look. To remove that you will have to wet sand it smooth. If there isn't enough clear your might have to wet sand then lay down some more clear and go at it again.

If it isn't too bad you just need some light wet sanding and then buff to a shine.
