Caleb Moore has been a huge part of the X Games movement for so many years, traveling the world doing stunts, that he seemed almost invincible but an under rotation during a jump at the X Games in Aspen last Thursday caught up with him.

While performing a 360 backflip with his snowmobile he found himself stuck in a position in which he knew he couldn't rotate far enough to land safely but was already committed so he couldn't bail out either or the 450lb sled would land directly on him. He didn't bail and almost pulled it off but the skis clipped on the landing sending the sled tumbling over him anyway.

He died later in hospital from a heart contusion and brain complications from the emergency surgery to fix his heart.

I remember him most for his fearlessness, he did a 360 backflip over a moving train once and performed with the Crusty Clowns world tour. Though he died young he probably lived larger than any of us in his 23 years.

Not for the faint of heart - the video (which will likely be taken down sooner or later) and crash about 1 minute in.

Man that's really sad. Young guy too, he's the same age as me. It's really sad that these types of accidents happen especially when they're doing something they love or have a passion for. It's kind of like that Olympian Georgian luger, Nodar, who died while doing a practice run before the Winter Olympics 2010 Opening Ceremony. Anyway my heart goes out to his family and friends.

Do you think they'll make changes to the sport or even ban it outright in some places because of the crash? It's the first death in 17 years.

Personally I think they should let those who want to take part in it do so, if you don't like the sport then don't watch it but it is a sport.

I think MMA fights cause more bodily damage than x-games but those aren't going anywhere so...

I don't know. My guess is they'll probably ban snowmobiling. That snowmobile did land on the guy and probably the cause for him being brain dead.

There are many ways to die in the X Games. Its sad that he died but he did do it doing something he enjoyed I'm guessing. They could ban it but I think at the most they would ban the back flip.

I don't know that answer for what they should do but I do know that they sell the X Games on being a little more hardcore then the Olympics and so on.

It sucks to have a life cut short so early.
