So, this thread is for all those who actually cook and like doing it, or at least put up with it :p I love cooking, but to be honest lately I'm feeling kinda tired of it, since Ive been doing it since I was just 16 years old! So, yeah, getting a bit tired of it already and I'm just starting, lol.

Anyway, the things I like to cook the most are with no doubt desserts, specially cheese-lime pies. I also love baking pecan pies and such. I love baking cakes, cookies, puddings, etc. I don't do this often tho, otherwise I'd be so overweight right now, lol :roflmao::cry::smile: I love baking :) There is a mango ice cream recipe I'm just dying to try!

The thing I dislike to cook the most are salads. Because for some reason whenever I make a salad it doesn't turn out the way I thought it would! I guess it has a lot to do with the fact I can't always find all the ingredients and I just dislike the taste of the lettuce here (I tried a hydroponic lettuce yesterday and was awesome!).

What about you? What kind of foods do you like to cook most and least?

Wow, I wish I knew how to cook and bake like you! As you already know, I don't know how to cook, so I'm wondering if someone taught you how to do it or you just learned by yourself?

I do love to cook and making desserts is my favorite thing to do because my family appreciate it very much. They are crazy about my cooking too but they don't get the things they'd prefer to have anymore so they try to avoid a full meal unless I cheat and prepare something not so healthy. There is this one thing that I love,tie-a-leaf, but it's very hectic and time consuming to prepare. I always have to call my friend over to help me out.

You first have to get about 2 dozen green bananas and grate them, then add a little coconut milk which I also prepare from scratch. I add a little of the trash of the grated coconut, enough sugar for sweetness and salt, then spices of nutmeg and vanilla. I make sure the mixture is thick and not runny at all then I put spoons of it on pieces of banana leaves and fold to close then tie each with string or strips from the bark of the banana tree. I then place them in the pot of boiling water to cook for about 30 minutes. Also, all the pieces of banana leaves have to be washed and quailed over heat to allow them to fold properly so it's something I enjoy eating but not preparing.

Wow, Rosa! By the way, you put those stuffed banana peels inside a steamer? I'm guessing you do! You sound like a real expert when it comes to cooking, wow! What's the name of this food? It sounds like a very Caribbean recipe! How do you make coconut milk??

You are so sweet  I'm not an expert at cooking, but I can make some really complex things :) I learnt to cook thanks to the internet, I searched a lot recipes online and thru trial and error I learnt all I know now :) I made a lot awful mistakes actually :p I once baked a salty cheese pie, lol. Because I thought I didn't need to add that much sugar to it... yikes! Who cooks at your place? I'm curious. Is it your dad?

Yes, he and my mom know how to cook, their children don't know anything complex, maybe except making fried rice, lol! So what happened to your salty cheese pie? Did it go to waste or your family and you were able to eat it? Did you just give it to Gordo and Bob? Lol!

Hahaha, no my dad ate it. LOL. So at least it didn't go to the trash... I just couldn't get myself to taste my first cooking failure! I was so disappointed! My first dessert ever and it turned out salty! Resembling a darn quiche!:oops::oops::oops::oops: I didn't give up tho... kept trying until I managed to learn how to make cheese pies in different ways...baked and unbaked! Fun fun fun!

Both my spouse and I love steak, so I cook a lot of that. I also cook a decent amount of seafood too. Mainly cod, oysters, squid, and, more rarely, salmon.

@Trellum, good for you that your dad ate it! Of course practice always makes perfect, I bet everyone doesn't get it quite right when doing something for the 1st time in general. Do you also know how to make a cheesecake?

Yeah, I can prepare cheesecakes :) Over here we call them cheese pies tho :p I think the main difference is we use a pie dish instead of one of those cake moulds for cheesecakes. They look almost the same:

I usually fry them up. I take clean oysters, dip in a egg and milk mix, rub them in a fish fry (Zatarain's is good), and them fry them up in oil. They also can be grilled on the BBQ, though I haven't done that in years.
