    Who has a toy box?

I have a small garage, its 18.5X18.5 that is detached. I used to put a vehicle in it years ago. Now it has too much equipment in it. I have my weight equipment, detail supplies and tools. Plus with the depth it isn't all that great for parking a car in it.

My ideal set up in the next house would be a 2 car attached garage for the daily drivers. It would be great to have them inside during snow or freezing rain. I would also like a 3 car garage that is detached to play in. I would love to have a lift in one bay. I would also want a bathroom and possibly a shower stall. It would be great to clean up before going back into the house. It would also be nice not to have to run back into the house to use the bathroom while working on the car.

My husband has it, and he's got so much stuff in there, it's unreal. Between car tools, welding machinery, and things that he's halfway built, it's like his sanctuary.

A toy box? That is an interesting name to give a garage:) . I have a one car garage that is attached to my apartment. I like it so much, because not many places around here have garages, especially not apartments. I really want to put carpet in it and make it into an extra room, but then I would have to park my car outside, which I don't want to do.

Garage! It sounds so French and elegant! I prefer to refer to mine as "the car cave".

Seriously, though, I live in a house where the previous owner converted the garage into a spare room. So, I'm going to eventually build a new one on.

LOL. Yeah before my kids my Toy Box had more toys. Growing up sucks. LOL. I will work toward getting a new Toy Box and new toys to go in it.

Having a garage can be really nice. It was nice when I used to park my car in there. The snow would melt over night and I didn't need to clear the windows in the morning. I miss that.

Gaining space in the house is great. Having it come from the garage is almost criminal. How big of a garage do you want to build?

When I lived in the States I had a garage but only kept my bike in it...no room for a car. It is totally amazing at how much crap we can save. I remember before I came here I had junk (important junk of course) that I had not seen for years. :whistling:

What made you move to Thailand?

I'm bad for not throwing things away but I don't like to store things in my garage at all (other then tools and toys.)

The first time I came here as a tourist back in 1987, I was in the immigration queue and had a bit of "deja vu" and knew that this would be my home some day. So I visited about two times a year and each trip I became more convinced that I should be here. When I retired about 6 years ago I made the move and it has been great. I have no regrets and am very happy here. Great people who respect and watch out for me because I am an elder (not looking for any help, but it comes anyway), food is great, I am a practicing Buddhist and the country is Buddhist, and the most important aspect is that I can afford it here.

I do live in an apartment. And I am fortunate enough to have a garage, which I pay extra for. A limited number, but I have been in the building for a few years. Since I have both a motorcycle and the Ranger truck I am really happy to have the garage. A few other things stored there like snow tires. Canadian winter, I am an advocate of snow tires.

    :shifty::shifty: Men.

Why does a person have to (almost) go to jail just because they want the space to come from the garage:wideeye: ?!!

No, actually I'm just kidding:) , I understand about the importance of a garage, if I did not have one, it would change my life, it really would. I would have to rent a storage unit, I would have to get the trunk of my car fixed (my trunk lock is kind of broken, but I don't worry about it because I park my car in my garage. If I didn't have a garage, I would have to get that lock fixed asap so that I could park my car outside).

I still would like to put some carpet in my garage and make a room out of it, but my garage is really too small:stop: for that.
The house that I lived in prior to this one had a huge garage. I carpeted the whole thing throughout and had room enough for my car and everything else I wanted in there. I did not use it like I really wanted to though. At that time I was going through too much stress:inpain: to enjoy my beautiful garage:( .

Growing up does NOT suck! You couldn't pay me to be a kid again!:inpain::inpain::nailbiting::yuck:

I wish you good fortune in getting your new toy box, especially one that is attached to your house.

It does not snow where I live, but it does get really cold. Sometimes when I drive out of my garage in the morning, I notice that the cars that have been sitting outside sometimes have a coat of ice all over the car. I have experienced that before. It is a pain in the a*s to have to scrape ice off of a car before you can even go anywhere in the morning. I love my garage.

Having a garage is definitely not only nice, but I consider it a blessing:singing::singing: , I really do.

I guess that the former owner wanted to have a formal dining room, so she sacrificed the attached garage to the housing Gods. The thing still has the concrete floor under the carpet. Anyway, I'm going to build something like a one-and-a-half car garage in my backyard with access from the alley.

I'm not really allowed in my husbands you box! It's a double-length garage but I can't even park in there!

Every man needs a club house or something for his own space. I currently refer to my Den as "The Yacht Club".

My kids aren't allowed in there either! We put up a shed so they can put their bikes, etc in there.
He has a car that is half apart in there, so of course it's dangerous and I don't want the kids in there anyways...

The difference between a toy box and a garage is the amount of junk you have in it. If there's too much junk in it it's no longer a toy box because you can't find enough space to take on certain projects. My garage is such a natural place to want to store stuff in because we use our basement as an entertainment center that I have to say it's become a storage locker. I'm going to *try* to clear it out this year, even if I have to sell off some spare parts and yard sale some of the good junk to do it - eeks!

Now to all the ladies out there who are not happy with the garage appointments....when I first got married, my home was a converted garage. And on the kitchen counter was an extra engine for my AH Sprite!
