Dwight Howard is a great player but there is something about him that gives me a negative vibe. I feel that for all the talent he has, he has an equal amount of immaturity to match it. He is also not a very good offensive player and has no real post up game. I just don't feel he is going to lead a team to a championship unless he makes a drastic change on and off the court. Maybe he can make it happen. He can be like Lebron, maybe.

Honestly: I don't know. I agree, he doesn't seem like the kind of player a championship team desperately needs... "negative vibe" describes it really well. Just look at the Lakers - a seemingly amazing team that disappointed a lot. Same thing could happen in Houston. I hope not, I love the Rockets. If Dwight gets back to his old form and is happy with his new team, everything could happen.

I don't think Dwight Howard will win a title. I think he is an overrated player and he only worries about how much money he is making. I'm glad he's leaving the Lakers.

I remember watching the espn rookie special a few years back before he was drafted, and thinking this kid has a lot of potential, increasing skills, and tons of height we all know you cant teach height. That said i knew he would struggle cause he had to much personality and big men with more personality than skills always fall short. not to mention he had the bad luck of being on bad teams yes that includes the lakers. He came into the lakers when there coaching system was out of line and he suffered for that. I still think he has enough talent to get at least 1 or 2 rings if he ever ends on on a decent team with GOOD coaching staff

Huh. Dwight Howard will be lucky to win a ring any time soon. As Dannyboy mentioned, there's some immaturity about him that galls. Okay maybe if his lucky stars shove him into a team like Miami Heat for instance he just might win a ring but then since I don't see that happening he'll have to end his career as one of the many talented players who didn't make into the hall of fame?

I think that Dwight Howard has no real interest in winning a title. I mean, I think that he could do it if his mind was set on that goal and that is where his focus is, but in a recent interview that he did with Stephen A. Smith, he basically said that winning a title will not make him or break him. His life does not revolve around acquiring that ring. He considers his life a success already just by beating the odds of becoming an NBA player. He is not championship-focused imo.

But yeah, if he wanted it bad enough, and if he stays healthy, AND if he had a coaching staff that could really vibe with the type of man that he is instead of the type of man that people wish he would be (just because he is a big, muscular man and therefore expected to act "rougher" and more mature than he does), well, they might be able to make him championship-focused.

I think Dwight made a great decision going to Houston. He will overall make more money going there and he is surrounded by a better team than the Lakers.

They way he has acted in the past years have hurt him and made this decision such a big deal. I beleive he will win a title at some point.

Howard is a great player! But it is just his attitude towards the game which needs to improve!

Maybe the move to Houston might just spur the turnaround for him, hopefully ! :D

He's a really talented athlete and very skilled. He might be able to win a title later on.

He will never be able to win a championship unless he develops a post-up game or at least a mid-range jumper. Most of the people have been comparing him to Shaq but Shaq is a different animal. He's much more powerful and talented that Howard. They have the same level of immaturity though lol

Shaq was in a different league altogether. Howard is no Shaw for sure! But I do feel Howard is as powerful as anyone. As you rightly pointed out he really does have to improve his post-up play to stand a chance to win the championship!

True that. If one would look at former great NBA champion teams, almost every team had a dominant center who can shoot or post up. Dwight can do neither. Hakeem Olajuwon, Tim Duncan, Robert Parish, Abdul Jabbar, Shaq. Only the Jordan-led bulls were different, but even that Luc Longley and Bill Cartwright had good perimeter games.

The only real chance Dwight ever had at a championship would've been if Pat Riley had traded Wade and Bosh for him before last season. Which is what Riley should've done. I know everyone will say that they won a championship last year, but they would've won with Dwight too.

Wade is an extreme liability at this point and he will only get worse. LeBron doesn't need someone to compete with him on the team, he needs people to compete with him against the other team.

Dwight has way too many personal issues to ever settle down and focus on basketball. He's not going to win one unless he's like the #2 or even #3.

I agree, Dwight is/was one of those players that looked like he had so much potential. Unfortunately, I think it's a wrap for him. I don't see him winning a championship or even getting close to it. It seems like he might be one of those players who bounces from team to team, gets injured, and then slowly fade away.

Houston is doing pretty well this year, but we will see how Howard preforms in the playoffs with the lights on bright.
