Used Cars vs New Cars

Which do you prefer?

 

New cars for me if I can afford it. My dad bought a used car before and it was a nightmare. Everything worked fine when he bought it but after six months, a lot of parts broke and had to be replaced. In the end, he had to spend over $1500 to get everything fixed. It turned out, the previous owner was a street racer so the car was pretty beat up inside.

 

I prefer new cars, but right now I only buy used cars. I have to wait until I am financially able to afford a new car. With a used car, I do not have to worry about car notes, and high car insurance. I have always bought used cars, but they were cars that ran like new and look like new. My dad is a mechanic so he helps me find really good cars for really good prices. When I do decided to get a new car, I would love to buy an Armada. I love this SUV and think they look sexy, sleek and sophisticated. I love SUV's even if I am the only person in the car.

 

Well, I'd prefer to own a brand new car because most of the pieces won't break as fast as an used car. When you buy a new car you know for sure about the state of each piece, how many kilometers they have, all the repairing history and any problem with a piece in guarantee would be resolved for free. With an used car, it can break down after signing the contract and it'll be your problem and your responsibility. Either way, I can't afford a new car so I'll have to do with used.

 

That's also true, and I haven't encountered any problem on the Clio neither, yet. Drove 15,000km with it, so far.

 

I am not suprised by what you say Flexin, we never know what might happen with new cars before they are actually sold and sometimes they can be in worse condition than a used car. I just hope this doesn't happen often!

 

I would definitely prefer a new car since it is less likely to start giving problems. Another thing I like about new cars is the smell of the interior and with everything brand new on it I won't need to spend any money on it for awhile.

 

New cars are obviously better! They feel so nice on the inside, but they're quite costly. Old cars however come cheaper, but they're used of course. Personally, I'd love to buy myself a brand new car. The smell and feeling are just so great! But if you want to buy a FIRST car, then used is much better in this case. If you are an experienced driver, then I would say new cars are better to buy.

 

I can't afford a new car right now, and to be honest I'm not even sure I'd want to get a new car... I mean, why would I? They are so expensive and they devalue so fast... I'd never buy a new car, I rather buy a used car of a very recent model... or maybe not that recent, maybe 4 or 5 years old!

 

Since I can't afford a brand new car anytime soon, I would go for a used car because that's in my budget. However I like new cars better because I have guarantee that I won't have to be back day after day with a different problem for at least 3 years because its a new car.

 

I have never had a new car either, but to be honest I don't mind because used cars with 3-4 years are way cheaper and they are as good as new.

 

I imagine that all of us, just given a choice between a brand new car or a used one, would pick the new car. I certainly would ! ! However, since affordability always seems to come into play, at least for most of us; having a new car may just not always be possible. Regardless of our financial condition, picking a vehicle that meets our needs is an important part of choosing a car, new or used.
I have always liked a vehicle that was more useful than just a car to drive around, although I have also had some cars just because they WERE such fun to own and drive.
Like my little gold 280-Z .
I lived out in the country, on a small farm, and that car was about as worthless as anything out there. My little pickup or the old Scout was much more valuable; but when it was just me and that little gold car, and a quick trip up I-5 to Seattle for something, then the 280-Z was the cat's meow !

 

If I could afford it, I would buy a new car but have always heard if you can get a used one that is a repo or from one of these rental companies when they turn them loose that you save alot of money, and get a good car. The last time I went car shopping I was going to go to this dealership that sold PT Cruisers- I was going to buy a new one. So I headed out I knew the dealership was along side the Freeway in Post Falls Idaho. Instead of going past it on the freeway and coming back to it, I turned off before I got to Post Falls, and went in on the town side. I could not find it. I wasn't real sure where I had seen it as before I wasn't interested in buying a new car.
So I continued on toward Spokane Wa. I turned off and went to the George Gee dealership. I was driving around their lot looking to see if this was the place that carried them. A lady saleswoman asked me what I was looking for I asked her if this was the place they sold Pt Cruisers? She said come I will show you one. (It wasn't the lot I was looking for) They had a 2002 Dream Cruiser they were getting ready for sale. We went for a ride in it, it was a nice car and still had some factory warrenty on it. It had been a repo. ( I didn't know that at the time-found out when the title finally came in so I could get it registered in my name) Yes I did buy it and when I went home, I found out that it was worth more than the $17,000 I had paid for it. They had only made 7000 of these cars, and they are numbered. I think this one is #3400 . There are hardly any of them around it is really rare to see one, even at the time I bought it in 2005. I am always getting coments on it whenever I go any where. The bad thing about it, is that I can not get away with anything~ I go anywhere even 60 miles away. And come work day, one of my co workers will say "I saw you at" ... I kinda wish I had found the Chrystler Dealership and had bount a more common color.

 

I have had a few new cars, it is nice if you can afford them. I doubt if I will ever be able to afford one again. Am afraid those days are past unless I win the lottery or PCH contest ;-)

 

Wow, a few new cars Judy? How many exactly? Buying a new car it's a huge expense, I already have a big rent paying the mortgage, school for the kids and so on, so a new car is not my top priority.
