If there was nothing like money and everything was free, what would you be doing each day? I ask this because I know that most people have based their lives on making money. If there was no money, I would sleep the whole day and do nothing. Why work when you have no reason to work?

You would still have to work. If there is something you can't do then you would have to get someone to do it for you. If there is no money then you would have to barter for it. So while they did something for you, you would have to do something for them.

Without money you wouldn't be able to buy food. So if there was no money I wouldn't be here posting on my forum, I would be hiking through the woods, hunting for a meal for my family. If there was no money I think we would have to work harder then we do now.

Well in a perfect world where everything is free, then for sure I'd waste time playing every game there is on the pc and other recreational activities, since we don't have to work anymore, and I don't have to pay any bills at all. But I wonder though, how did I get to acquire my house. Was it free to begin with too? Now the question is kinda confusing now, lol.

Absence of money makes life more difficult. There will be no business in the absence of money. Hence, we should work ourselves for food, shelter and cloth. If there is no money then I would become a farmer.

I tell people that I would prefer to live in the days when all people did was to hunt for food and sleep. I think that that kind of a lifestyle would be so great compared to the way we live these days. These days you have to work all your life to get enough money to eat and do other things.

And school is the main reason I prefer to live the life that does not have money in it. I used up a whole twelve years of my life just to get lower level education and that education is not even enough to get me any job.

Yes, even your house is free and you did not have to work even a little to get it. You just found some piece of land somewhere and decided to build a small house there. The only problem with this kind of free life is that no one would have any reason to do anything for you.

This is because people usually do work like building houses and making newspapers for others because they will get paid for it. Without money, then you will have to build your own house, plant your own food and even make your own computer. What a bad life.

That is right. Money is the reason why our lives are so exciting. People have come up with all these ideas of making things that would make other people's lives very exciting simply because they are looking for a good product which they can sell knowing that many people would buy it and thus they would make a lot of money from it.

I think whoever invented money did a fantastic job. The bad things that it has caused are negligible compared to all the good that it has done for humanity.

I see. There is a downside to it though. It will force lazy people to become hardworking, since they must learn how to do things by themselves. I now imagine myself mixing cement and doing all the things that construction workers do, and I don't think that I can do it. I think I will have to trade something in exchange so that other people can do it for me.

Exactly, if there was no many, then people would just come up with something else to replace money like barter trade where they would exchange one service for another. For example, if you are good at building houses and I am very good at singing, then I will sing for me and in exchange, you would have to build my house for me. Money is one thing that we really need, whether for good or bad, we all need it.

Yeah I agree, money really makes the world go round, and it makes the world more convenient too. If only the companies that make money produce way more than they should, then I guess that would stop the world's most common crisis like hunger and lack of education, especially in impoverished countries.

I'd be out travelling the world, and visiting all the interesting places, playing games on my smartphone whilst on the move. If only there was a world that didn't need money!

Interesting question. I'm not exactly sure WHAT I would be doing right now, since money plays such a big part in the world. I might be travelling around the world, though.

I think there will always be "money" of some kind, even if it's in the form of bartering services and goods. I believe the human spirit needs something in return for efforts made. Without this, there is no sense of purpose, no sense of accomplishment, and no incentive to achieve anything beyond the norm. We would all become aggravated couch potatoes.

If everything were free, life wouldn't be nearly the same, it'd be completely different actually, society would've been built on a completely new level, I'd probably just build websites & work on cars all day everyday, I mean, do what you like doing, if you don't like doing anything, well, that's not a problem because EVERYONE has at least one thing that they like doing which can actually consume time. So yeah, cars & computers & websites.

If anything without money I think people would actually be stress free. That would mean living longer but then again there would still be a large amount of sick people and without money we would depend on the good and the kind people to nurture the sick. It would be good for the people that are in good condition and are in shape but in the other hand would you want too go out and have fun knowing that there are people that could be doing the same as you, but out of good spirit go out and help the sick. With no money we would have an ocean with all the stuff we want.

Hopefully survive haha. Probably would work a little less, but still do something - I need some sort of project to occupy me, or else I'd turn insane. Would be tough to get motivation though, I imagine.

Uhm, you mean everything free as 'hunt your own food'' or free as ''We're in heaven, take all you want''. If it's the first, I think I'd not like it. I'm not a good hunter, and I don't like the idea of killing my own food, clean it up and then have to cook it as well! I guess I could try tho, but hunting wouldn't be a choice for the elders :( I see many issues arising in a world ruled by anarchy as well, so no thanks!

I think when you formulated this question you didn't have any of this in mind, I think you were talking about some kind of heavenly utopia :) For some reason I find hard to wrap an idea like that around my head! I think it would be wonderful tho... if we all had access to all the basic stuff it would be great. I'd not like to be doing nothing all day tho...

If everything is free then all I do is to do whatever things that I usually do. Sleep, strolling, eating, travelling and many more since everything is free, I don't need to buy something to satisfy myself. :)
