Hello all, I'm 22 and from the UK. I'm a new driver, and purchased my first car 5 months ago. I've got a 1969 MG BGT in classic white, with chrome bumpers, door trims and original wooden steering wheel and gearstick etc. I've been fixing it up for a few months and its not roughly 2 weeks until it's ready to pass it's MOT. It's been such a joy learning about mechanics and understanding old cars.

    Welcome to Gearhead Central @TheRev6591

Congrats on the car. How much have you had to do to it?

So far I've had to sort out the wiring (the headlights weren't working, only full beam worked. Neither were the indicators), I've had to change all the radiator hoses, fix the alternator, rewire the radio, sort out a few rust problems and change the front indicator and side light units. That's just the start of the list that needs doing.

Right now I'm just focusing on things that are needed to pass the MOT, the rest of the things I can do at leisure.

Yeah electrical problems can pop up as a car ages. If you have be taken pictures of your work them you should look st the build thread section.

Top threads in there will have chances to win free products and so on.

Unfortunately I haven't been taking photos, I never thought to do that. Next time I get working on it, I may take a few photos and write a tutorial on what exactly I did. May help some people out if they enjoy tinkering with their cars too.

It can help in many ways. It allows people to get tips, offer tips and so on. I get hooked on build threads.

Welcome TheRev. :) I wish I could work on cars like that. If I were you I'd follow James' advice and create a build thread, who knows if you don't get lucky?
