Here are some of my tips for driving in the rain, please share yours too.
    * Slow down your speed while raining
    * Turn on headlights and wiper
    * Be cautious in applying brake as the roads might be slippery
    * Keep a good distance between the automobiles in front
    * Avoid flooded roads as the soaking water can damage electronic system of automobiles

These are all great suggestions. My first car I had purchase was a dangerous zone. I had to pull over to the side road when ever it was raining really bad.

I live in an area that gets a lot of rain (PNW), so know what you mean. In excellent addition to the tips above, it really pays to buy quality tires and have them serviced regularly.

Yes, tyres should have enough grip to manage slippery conditions in rainy days.

Really great suggestions there mate love them. I just got my learners the other day and love getting driving tips. I already know how to manage snow driving so I think driving in the rain is pretty much easier. But it's easier driving when its dry though.

Some good suggestions. It still amazes me that some people need to be reminded to slow down during the rain. And I don't mean to stereotype but I find that those who drive SUV's are the most stubborn when it comes to this. I always giggle a little bit when I see an SUV in a ditch, but I always feel bad afterwards because well, you never know if someone was actually hurt.

Always look at your mirrors in general just to make sure you're not to close to anything, but not look at them for too long because you also want to focus on the road ahead of you, obviously. Another thing is to be careful changing lanes.

Have a sheet of plastic or a small container ready in case the roof of your car starts to leak while raining. It happened to me when the car that I was riding in had its roof leaking. The car was 2nd hand, so no wonder. Not really a driving tip per se, but it may come in handy.

I think that you need to really be cautious of the rain and if you have the option not to travel when it is raining, do not do it. One tip that i can give is that when it is raining, you should consider driving slow.....some roads may covered in water and you may not be able to notice bumps or holes in the road and you could end up damaging your car.

Avoid other drivers! People seem to slow down and hesitate a lot more when it rains. There's a difference between being cautious and being afraid, and it seems like a lot of drivers just forget how to drive when it rains.

I always slow down and keep my distance from cars while driving in the rain, and especially when it's snowing. Or just pull over.

I don't drive in the rain unless I am caught in it through no fault of my own. If it is raining, I will take public transportation before I drive. Just safer and less complicated.

The original list of tips covers most of them. One of my peeves re road behavior and
stupidity is following too closely. And even moreso in the rain or snow. I think that is my
number on complaint on the roads. Drivers following too closely.

    • Within the first half-hour of a steady rain, the roads will be their slickest because the oil on the roads is still being washed away. You have a better chance of hydroplaning during this early period.
    • If you're afraid to drive in the rain, DON'T.

Thanks for the reminder. I live where we get a lot of rain all the time and so I always have to be cautious whenever I drive in the rainy weather. Accidents can certainly be expensive so we have to avoid them at any cost.

if it's raining very heavily then you might as well stay home and weather the storm no need to risk it. or if you're already on the road then you can pull over for a while. also don't drive very fast.
