Doing it in the snow in an open parking lot is fun and educational. It allows you to feel how the car reacts, gets a feel for the car and get use to it again after many months of high traction dry pavement.

Very dangerous as well. Drifting on any wet surface to me is too risky. I guess if you flip over on the show it would cushion the crash but still, people are warned to not even drive their cars in major snowstorms. So drifting in the snow, don't know if it's such a good idea.

Drifting seems like it could be a lot of fun. I might try it out one day.

I love drifting and love watching it in movies etc. but I personally have not tried it before and don't intend to unless I'm skilled enough and practiced many times. I used to think it was fake growing up but I realized that its real and pretty cool.

If you ever want to accidentally drift all over the place I recommend driving your car during a Canadian winter. I don't know how many times I have performed well timed drifts all of them were of course unintentional.

If you really want to try it out, the most important thing is to make sure you really aren't putting anyone in danger. Snow of course is the best way to start learning it by yourself, find a wide open area, like a parking lot, and give it a go. Slow speeds, learn how your car handles and go from there. Just make sure to stay levelheaded, you're there to have fun, not to impress anyone.

Or just take some driving safety courses that include drifting lessons, that might actually be the better idea :D

My question is how in the heck do you learn how to do it without destroying your car, or yourself? There has to be a way to get from playful sliding on ice or snow to actually drifting with control. There must be clubs where you get to use THEIR practice cars. LOL. Or maybe you buy a junk car just for learning.

Hahaha, or maybe even more fun watching your friends try to run away from the police or explain why they decided to drift in a quiet neighborhood at 3 am in the morning . That can be crazy lol :roflmao:

I don't think it is injurious to the car per se maybe to your tyres :)

Never really heard of anyone drifting in the snow since maybe it is almost impossible to control the vehicle/ "drift uncontrollably" if I may use that word. :)

It's good to know that someone out there thinks like me :D, but I finally managed to conquer my fears, after being a drifting pro on EA games and Xbox, I think I'm ready to be a real life drifter  :D

Nice, so you got inspired by playing those games. If you think you can already go for it in real life, then go for it! Do you already know someone who's gonna teach you how to do it?

Yeah New York cops are douchebags. Especially as you get further and further away from the city. I also notice it takes them an immensely long amount of time to get anywhere when you call them. Yet when no one calls them, they just seem to show up at random to harass people. So odd.

In Nova Scotia, people go shopping during snow storms because of smaller crowds. Takes a lot to stop us from driving.

Well that's Nova Scotia. I guess your cops or polices over there are not as overbearing as ours. In America, our cops never miss an opportunity to throw someone in jail. We jail more people in America than any developed country in the world.

Sounds crazy huh, but after you have drifted severally in a racing game, it just leaves you wondering if it would feel the same in real life. Unfortunately I haven't found someone who would teach me how to do it. :(

o_O Wow, that's crazy , so what happens if your car breaks down and there's no one who could come to your rescue, let alone know where you are in the middle of the storm, all because you need tomatoes from the market? I dont think I will be comfortable doing that.

Well, it may look easy and cool when you see cars drift on a video game, but in real life it can be life threatening, so you have to be very careful when you start practicing if ever you'll find someone to teach you.
