I couldn't agree less with you, it is really strange, and sometimes you even see a lady who is clearly too small for the car that she has to "peep" over the dashboard so that she may be able to see the road.

And I haven't met a girl who owns a cobra yet, but I will let you know in case that happens.

I guess that can happen with any car though, not just the "manly" cars. Small/short women have a problem in that respect, which imho has not much to do with the car type itself, but more with car seat vs. body height. The other point is probably the fact that a lot of drivers, men and women alike, just don't know how to correctly adjust their seating position to not peep over the dashboard. Again, nothing to do with the "manliness" of the car, but with the driver him-/herself, no matter the gender.

But also girls like to show off how they took that cheating ex husband of theirs to the cleaners in divorce court. Hence the reasons sometimes, they're driving the sporty, flashy cars. :D

I know I enjoy driving my f150 around. I don't see it being a big deal for women to drive what others may consider 'manly vehicles'. I personally actually enjoy doing what I do with my truck. Granted it's big and I'm just a small woman sitting behind the wheel of a monster, but I like it. And I guess it's whatever opinions people perceive on it. I think though it really shouldn't matter, quite frankly, I think it should really reflect much of the personality either. Certain circumstances require certain needs. In my case, I need a big truck to help haul stuff.

I'm fine with that, it's their choice. However, it's painful to be behind a strong sports-type car, being driven by a women, as if it were a Chevette. I think it's because they haven't gotten used to the power of the car, yet, and are scared to drive it. This can also be dangerous.

You wanna talk about a manly car?
My first car was a dream come true for me. My granny bought it for me, because it was safe. Little did she know what level of power she was placing in the palm of my hands. We saw an ad in the paper for a 1967 Plymouth Barracuda. We drive out to take a look. I am afraid that she will smarten up, and realize that this car, while "big and safe", was also a powder keg ready to be ignited. Body was perfect. Mechanically sound. And then they lifted the hood. *GASP*
As I stared at the biggest engine that Plymouth ever put into the 'Cuda, I fell in love. It was beautiful, clean, and not a speck of oil leaking anywhere.

I find out that the owner was only selling it because it was a 2-door, and too hard for her to get the baby in and out of the back seat. Her parents had just given her their 2 year old Cadillac, 4-door.

She'd had this car since she was 16. Purchased from a little old lady, who actually lived in Pasadena. No joke. They had the previous registration. The young mother's husband and father were both MECHANICS. Her husband pulled out a binder full of service records, dating back to the original dealership oil changes in Pasadena.

I look over at my granny, and I nod. It was all I was capable of at the time. As she was writing out the check for $695, I ran the palm of my right hand along the edge of the roof, and down the back left quarter-panel. It was then, I knew, we were going to be together forever.

I would support a lady driving a manly car but they must have the personality to pull it off. There are some ladies that are well extremely "blonde" and it would not suit them driving a manly car almost the same way a real mans man driving a girly car would look like.

I also think that it's nice to women drive manly cars, but only some can pull it off.

I wish that automobiles weren't "gendered" like this! It's how men get picked on for driving green cars and women get flack for jumping down from a Hummer. What a shame that society makes you feel like you have to pick a car to fit stereotypes.

Some are going to do it no matter what. I will never give a woman flack for driving a Hummer. I like it.

Never heard of men getting it for driving a green car. The first thing that comes to mind is British Racing Green. I don't know anyone that got flack for that.

Oh haha sorry, Flexin. I should've specified. I meant economically-green (like a SmartCar or something!) But you're right, even if society shifted, at least a few people would still hang on to this way of gendering stuff. It's a shame though.

:roflmao: Yeah that one is clear as day now. Yes. Men do get picked on for driving little tiny eco cars. At least here in North America. In Europe I think it is totally different. But we are not that far removed from the big muscle cars, and big boats. And trucks are still popular. Its just the mind set around here. It is slowly changing but won't change completely for a long time I think.

I guess the big work truck type F-150s or Silverados are pretty much cast
as the 'working man's' trucks although obviously some women drive and own them.
And women ride Harleys and Vulcans. And they can look feminine and sexy and
powerful and adventurous all at the same time. And they don't need pink helmets.

Eh I don't see anything wrong with it. Let them eat cake as they say. Women seem to like the power that comes with owning manly vehicles.

As what most women would tell that whatever work that a man do, women does. It only shows that what men can do, women does it all. I also have seen such woman who show off her skills in driving huge trucks, and she's also very pretty that's why I was amazed when I saw that woman.

I think that a girly girl would look too awkward driving a truck, but a boyish or loud girl would look ok in driving it. Girly girls and trucks just don't mix well in my opinion.

Totally true. Some women appear very comfortable and natural while driving such cars, while others just seem to be frustrated, lol

It's really cool to see a woman driving manly vehicles. Some guys may not like it and will even try to bad mouth them on the road but I don't mind it. A lot of these women can really handle the ride too so I think they should be given a chance.
