In our place, there's no such rules. Here people can talk or text while driving. It's up to the driver to decide whether he need to keep away such distractions. I don't think bringing such laws against this actions won't be effective, atleast for my place.

Surley you must know how dangerous it is don't you? I should think a person behind the wheel of any vehicle moving down the highway would have the common sense to know it only takes a fraction of a second of distraction and their life and someone elses could be snuffed out. Is it worth risking your life for a few usually not important words on a cellphone? It is bad enough just talking and driving on a cellphone much less taking your eyes off the road to text. I used to be a police officer and I have seen what can happen when a person is distracted while driving and that was before cellphones. Now it is worse. DON'T DRIVE AND TEXT/TALK! The life you save may be your own!:stop:

I used to text and drive all the time until i watched a tv show that was stressing how bad it can be and that it is possibly worse than drinking and driving. Ever since then i completely stopped. Its scary how i was playing on the edge and not know that i was on the wrong side of the tracks. I would not recommend this to anyone and would love if there were more awareness campaigns on this issue.

In our place, it's not recommended to text while driving or make use of your phone while driving. Most accidents, if not due to being drunk is texting while driving. It is prohibited but there are still some drivers who do that. I don't know why they should text while driving? Maybe they just wanted to show off their skills that they can drive even they are texting.

I don't think that it's all about "skills", they just can't resist to not look at their cellphones and to reply while driving. That's why it's very important that your phone should be on silent mode or on hands-free mode to be able to avoid life threatening distractions.

Texting and driving is totally wrong, it is illegal where I come from, but you don't really need the law to make sure that you stay safe you brain is only designed to concentrate fully on one matter at a time.

I don't understand why people text while driving. It's like the most dangerous thing a person can do.
I always avoid texting while driving. I think it's very distracting and I don't want to get into an accident.
So, I will try to find a way to drive safely.

In my state if you get caught being on your phone while driving you get a ticket. Believe me cops are watching people to see if they are on their phones while operating a moving vehicle. The only people who are exempt from this law is emergency officials.

It's illegal in my state. I never do it, I don't even make calls when I drive. I've seen my friend text and drive once, it was the stupidest thing I've ever seen. My brother does it some times, too. I mean you are driving at like, 40 MPH, and you are looking away from the road for 5-10 seconds? Yeah! That's not a recipe for disaster or anything. It's like driving 101. Pay attention to the road! Otherwise, don't drive. No excuse.

I'm actually surprised to hear that texting and driving isn't illegal everywhere. I really thought that it was! I basically think that it is a stupid idea, because it's easy to lose concentration when texting. It's perhaps worse than talking on the phone while driving, because at least you are still focused on the road ahead of you, with texting you have to look at the phone.

It's illegal in the UK to use a mobile phone at all, except using a 'hands free' set and even then it's not recommended.

I agree. It's completely irresponsible. Whenever I see someone attempting to text and drive, I don't feel bad calling them out on it. As a passenger of the car, they are responsible for my safety, and the safety of every other driver on the road. Why some people think it's okay to do it is beyond me.

As a full-time passenger (medical grounds) it always amazes me how some people got a licence at all.

If I have to use my phone for any reason at all, I stop as soon as I can, whether on the side of the road or in a parking lot. I'm already lacking in the attention department, so there's no way I'm risking it.

I honestly can't fathom how people can even entertain the idea of texting and driving. I've never been able to figure out what leads people to think they're invincible and that bad things won't happen to them, despite there being an abundance of evidence that clearly says otherwise. Nothing like the irony of people texting things like "I should stop texting and driving", and that very text is what does them in.

My compliments to you for your common sense approach to this situation. There should be more people out there that think like we do. If I am behind the wheel and I receive a phone call or a text I either pull over, stop and then respond to the message or text or just shine it until I stop at my destination.

Invincibility? No. Stupidity? Yes. Lots of stupid people out there. Who think they can do it all while doing it all, despite having just two hands and ten fingers. Maybe a field trip to the morgue to look at crash victims will help.

It is illegal to use a cell phone while driving but I don't think the law is fully enforced. Texting and driving can be dangerous and the fact that it could cause fatality makes it even more intolerant. I guess the only way to proof a driver was texting while driving would be to have a dash cam. That way everything gets recorded.

I had a woman pass me last week in my work truck. She had a novel held against the steering wheel. What is she thinking? I think that is even worse then texting. Both are bad.

There is a ban on using mobile phones while driving what so ever here. If you are caught its an instant fine and points on your licnce. To be honest I think its a good idea as the amount of people swerving all over the place while usi g their phones is just dangerous.

It's illegal in Romania as well. The only way of communicating through the phone is by having bluetooth and talking in the car. As long as you are keeping both hands on the steering wheel, you will not be pulled over.
