Hi guys! I'm sure many of you have heard about the term ''comfort foods''. It's basically a specific food or foods you like to eat when you are feeling down or you just need a mood boost.

Most of those foods when eaten bring back some kind of nostalgic feelings and sometimes even nice memories, that's probably why they are called ''comfort foods'' ;) They are not always healthy tho. My comfort foods aren't healthy at all actually, my main favorite comfort food is pizza and fries! I also feel much better after eating a good chocolate!

    What are your comfort foods?

Nowadays I have been trying very hard to eat healthy so I don't fool around with comfort foods much anymore. However, when I did my favorite was always pastry. I like puddings, corn meal and sweet potato. I also enjoy nutty banana bread with vanilla ice cream. I love pizza, hamburger and fries too but pastries are so much more comforting to me.

Yes I do, chocolate ice-cream. Whenever I'm stressed out I always crave for ice-cream. I tend to grab an entire bucket and start eating till I'm satisfied. I know this is bad practice but I just can't help myself, ice-cream is irresistible. :p

Chocolate ice-cream is great! I always have that when I feel really down, any kind of ice cream will usually do. I can eat a whole bucket of ice cream when I am really down! Ice cream is definitely the favorite of most women when they are really down and in need of a comfort food :inlove:

Omg, Rosa! All the things you mentioned sound really delicious! You made me feel so hungry! I totally love pastries too, specially small croissants filled with ham and cream cheese! But I truly loved the pastry in the Netherlands; it had a sausage inside! Just wonderful! And the fries were so mmmm!!!!

I'm also trying to eat healthy by the way :p Best of luck with your goal :)

Thanks Trellum. Today we celebrate Ash Wednesday here and I just had to cheat a little. I made the nutty banana bread and potato pudding for the family but I only tasted a very small piece. I have to keep my focus otherwise I would go overboard, plus it's been raining all day which does increase the cravings too.

How come I never become nostalgic when I eat my "comfort foods"? I just mindlessly eat them. :D Anyway, my comfort foods are anything that's sweet like ice cream, pastries, carb foods, etc.

Well, you could get either nostalgic or just remember a nice thing that happened to you in the past. To me, for example, pizza reminds me of my childhood, specially some really happy moments :) Same happens when I eat ''flan'' or rice pudding, that's why I find sweet stuff comforting in general ;)

Best of luck with that :) Today I couldn't control my cravings and went a bit overboard, but hey... it can happen to anyone ;) Tomorrow will be a new day, so we can try our best and try to eat as healthy as possible :)

That's okay because I don't feel nostalgic either. I just eat the food I like when I'm down and it'll lift up my mood. When I'm down, feeling nostalgic doesn't exactly help me as I usually relate nostalgic to stuff that I no longer have.

@Trellum, I see, as for me food never made me nostalgic, and when I think about pizza, I just get hungry, lol. If there's anything that can make me nostalgic, it's music, letters, and scents that remind me of a particular time, place, and person.

@Daimashin, yeah I understand you, nostalgia is something that I don't like to indulge in, because it makes me feel sad at times when I remember my mistakes in the past.

I get the same with some smells too!!!! Even people!!! I get something strange sometimes, something about how certain places make me feel and even certain situations. It's so hard to explain. But there is something about the atmosphere of certain places (not quite about the place itself) that make me feel a bit nostalgic and remind me of the good times I had in the past. Not sure if that makes any sense

I think I can relate to that, but I don't think the same though, lol. Maybe you're a bit more intuitive than the normal person that's why you can relate to the atmosphere of a place. As for me, the place and the atmosphere should go hand in hand for me to be reminded of something.

Mine would have to be anything chocolate or sweet for that matter. I especially love cheesecake and red velvet cake. Whenever I'm having a "pig out day", I have to have something sweet.

Yeah, sometimes I think I'm too intuitive and empathetic for my own good, sometimes I swear I can even sense what the other person is feeling and thinking. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes not so much, but it still is annoying!

Well that only occurs to me if I'm already close to the person or I live with them like my family, but I guess it's also because we're both Pisces. We tend to see things that others don't seem to notice at all!

Yeah :) We might be naturally good to see body language, I can see almost everything on someone's face, but not so god with Europeans. My boyfriend's parents seemed so... uhm ''expressionless''. It was hard to really know what they were actually thinking, but I had a couple clues ;) Are you good reading body language?

Only if I know the person already, so I am certain of their hidden intentions. But when it comes to strangers, then I guess it's 50/50 depending on the situation. It's hard to just assume, you know?

Yeah, but can you tell when someone you just met doesn't like you for some odd reason? I do most of the time, not cool at all. I've read what ''fake'' hugs are like :( Big mistake!
